ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to investigate the damage to the myocardium that reactive oxygen species (ROS) produce after reperfusion in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and the effect of a mixture of antioxidant agents (MMA) as adjuvant measure to the standard treatment. The total antioxidant capacity (CAPT), the material reactive to thiobarbitiric acid (CRAT), the enzymatic activity of paraoxonase (PN-1), the plasma of individuals who received MMA, as well as the conto of white blood cells were quantified. the incidence of arrhythmias during the first twenty-four hours.
