Abstract:
ABSTRACT: It was study the mechanism of passivity films grown potentiostatically imposed
potentials 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 V vs SCE in a phosphate buffer solution pH 6.5, on
different heat-treated titanium samples, using the technique of EIS . The experimental
plots were simulated using a transfer function based on the model of point defects
(MDP), considering the formation of molecular hydrogen (blistering). The kinetic
parameters are evaluated from the film capacitance (Cp), the resistive elements ( 2 1,O
R
,
2,OH
R ), the kinetic constants back in the formation of oxygen defects and hydroxyl (
3a k , 3b k ) and the corresponding diffusion coefficients (
VO
D y
VOH
D ).
Of the parameters obtained, highlighting the diffusion coefficients, because they
are related to the oxide structure and hydration, respectively. The values obtained for
these parameters depend on the formation potential, varying from 10-17 to 10-20 and
10-19 to 10-20 cm2/s, the mobility of these defects through the oxide. It is noteworthy
that these values reported for TiO 2, indicating the high passivity of these materials.
Based on these data it was found that the titanium film formed on the heat treated at
1000 ° C for 60 minutes, has a more passive with respect to the other samples of
titanium.
