ABSTRACT:
The evaporators used in domestic refrigerators are commonly evaporators of tube with
straight fins, however there is little literature on evaporators of tubes with spine fins. In the
present work, the heat transfer of the evaporator of tubes with spine fins in inverted v
configuration for dry and wet conditions is studied experimentally and analytically.
The extended surface consists of an aluminum tube and a ribbon with cuts, of the same
material, which form spine fins when rolled up to the tube. The tube forms a coil with an
inverted type V tube configuration according to the direction of the air flow.
The experimental characterization in humid conditions was carried out in a commercial
refrigerator of 512 dm3 for a constant air flow of 0.22 m/s of the real refrigeration cycle.
The experimental characterization of the surface under dry conditions was carried out in a
wind tunnel in the velocity range of the air flow of 0.5 to 5 m / s, for a constant flow of hot
water with a temperature of 40 ° C circulating in the inside of the coil.
Based on the experimental results, the correlations were determined for the calculation of
frosting grow and defrosting on evaporator of tubes with spine fins in inverted v configuration
In conclusion, a mathematical model is presented that unites the frosting and defrosting
process in real conditions of a 512 dm3 refrigerator that has a evaporator of tubes with spine fins in inverted v configuration
