ABSTRACT:
This paper presents the design of a modified PD controller that serves to control the
position of a crank connecting rod mechanism by means of the control of an electric
motor C.D. and a Magneto-Rheological (MR) shock absorber. The proposed system
makes it posible to dispense with the end effector speed estimation of the mechanism
to reach any desired position, since conventional PD controllers require the
estimation of said parameter to achieve this task. To do this, the power dissipative
term of the PD controller is analyzed, which is a function of the sepeed, and it is
determined to replace this part with an MR shock absorber, since both the shock
absorber and the dissipative term of the controller have the function of dissipating
energy. The problem focuses on the modification of the derivative control by
proposing the change of the derivative constant by a variable that depends on the
inverse of the position error, so that the system stops when the error reaches zero,
thus achieving a controllable damping effect as a MR shock absorber does. A control
system with a desired position to be reached is presented without taking into account
the speed of the position error, serving as an alternative to the conventional PD
controller.
