ABSTRACT:
This work focuses on developing a prototype Intelligent street lighting management system, integrating from the
application, communication, collection, storage and finally the integration of a graphic interface, this with the
objective of monitoring and controlling luminaries, tools knowledge that allows to have certainty in the operation of
a public lighting system and that in the future, when tools are implemented that can predict their behavior, that
allow improving the management of this type of system. This project has been developed as a tool for wireless
data transmission, due to its technical characteristics called Lora; This technology is of recent appearance in the
market, focused on the Internet of Things, which due to its technical capabilities, can be implemented in this
project. The first part of this work is to describe the objectives and justification of this development. In the scope,
the proposed objectives are established, which make it necessary to divide the project into three sections,
modularizing these sections to locate the problems more quickly. These sections are Station Module, Central
Module and a Graphic Interface.
The Station Module is developed with two specific objectives of control and measurement of parameters of a
luminaire. The control operates automatically from the amount of luminosity that exists in the medium, but its
operation is conditioned by a parameter that is remotely defined by the Central Module. The measurement is
made to current, voltage and status parameters, which are reported to a Central Module.
The Central Module fulfills the function of being the manager of this system using a star network through LoRa
communication, which is responsible for remotely controlling, collecting and storing all the data of the Station
Modules. It is developed in a Raspberry PI 3, and with the daemon of the operating systems of programmed tasks
the information request is made periodically to the Station Modules; this allows control of the network in relation to
requests. Additionally, the time stamp is established for all the measurements obtained.
The graphic interface is developed as a web page that allows only access by authorized personnel. This interface
remotely controls the Station modules from the home page, using buttons that execute the python programs that
send the control commands to the respective Station Modules. The HighChart firmware compatible with php is
used to display the data. In addition, the data of the events is shown in a table, which allows to know the behavior
of the luminaire.
This type of technology is necessary for the knowledge of a system such as public lighting to improve its
management, save energy and its maintenance. This prototype has weak points that have to be improved, in
addition to the fact that it has to be evaluated how it will operate in real systems, but it is the first step for a market
proposal.
