ABSTRACT:
In this thesis, the forecasting of the short-term demand for the one-week interval of a
test distribution circuit is developed, and in which there are interconnected services that have
local generation, also known as Distributed Generation, with the objective of knowing the
effect that these services have on the demand behavior of the circuit.
In order to carry out the above, the values of the demand measurements for a month
of the test circuit will be used and from which the values for weekends are excluded, and
because the Distributed Generation that is in the circuit is in its entirety photovoltaic, it will
be necessary to consider the contribution of this in the behavior of the demand of the circuit.
To form the time series, the values of the first three weeks will be used and with this to be
able to predict the fourth week, in addition only 3 methods will be used, and which will be
Decomposition, ARIMA and Winters using the Minitab® 18.1 statistical software.
If the forecasts obtained are as close as possible to the real values of the demand, it
will be providing useful parameters for the planning of the distribution system, avoiding
threats such as the lack of capacity in the infrastructure to accommodate new loads. On the
contrary, an overestimation in the forecasts will lead to poor planning decisions, which can
cause capital losses, so in this thesis we seek to reduce the uncertainty by knowing the
electrical demand that will be required in the short term in a distribution circuit to help with
the improvement of the planning and operation of this.
Once the values for each of the methods were obtained, a comparison of the results
of the forecast with the real value measured was made, in order to determine the advantages
and disadvantages of each method based on the error measures used to measure the accuracy
of the forecast.
Because of this analysis, ARIMA has the lowest MAPE MAE and MSE values
compared to the other two methods, adjusting in a better way to the behavior of the real
demand.
