Abstract:
ABSTRACT:
This work presents the development of a modular robot with the aim of obtaining a
robot with omnidirectional movement when its modules are joined together.
For the design of the modular mobile robot the QFD methodology has been used,
which allowed the developing of the robot fulfilling the defined requirements and
necessities.
The idea of this work arises from the application of modular robots and the design of
some existing robots in the market, such is the case of the omnidirectional robot with
four mecanum type wheels that allows the omnidirectional movement.
3D modeling of the robot has been created in the SolidWorks 2016® software
obtaining the conceptual and final designs and the manufacturing and assembly
drawings.
The components have been evaluated by mechanical analysis techniques and/or
finite element analysis.
Manufacturing in most of its components has been made by 3D printing, allowing
prototyping relatively quickly and evaluate the behavior of the robot in general. The
printing material used for this robot was the PLA.
The present project provided more ideas to continue exploring new designs of
modular robots and leaving open field to different applications when analyzing the
kinematics of the system.
