Abstract:
ABSTRACT: The project presents the petrophysical characterization carried out with the marine seismic data of the Poseidon 3D Field in Australia. In the seismic, the horizons corresponding to the Plover, Montara and Echuca formations were marked, also faults that cross part of the field were located. To help seismic interpretation, seismic attributes were used to highlight characteristics of interest that helped us to better interpret and characterize the area mentioned. Well logs and seismic horizons were used to build the seismic model in the study area, with the objective of determining the geological framework for the 3D model of the property cube. Gamma rays, resistivity, density, sonic curves were available from the geophysical records, and the peaks for each formation in terms of depth for each well were calculated. With these geophysical records it was possible to proceed to the petrophysical interpretation where we calculate clay volume and matrix volume as a base, in addition the electrofacies analysis of the wells was done, which was a fundamental part of the interpretation of the field. With the data obtained, property cubes were generated, to visualize the petrophysical characteristics and with the help of these, locate the areas of interest in the field (areas with exploratory potential). As a final result, a correct interpretation and 3D characterization of the Poseidon field was obtained, finding possible areas with hydrocarbon accumulation distributed in the 8 wells that make up the field. The data used is open and can be obtained online for academic purposes.
