Abstract:
(What if?). ABSTRACT: In this work, a Risk Management analysis is carried out in the Unit Operations Laboratory, of the Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Química e Industrias Extractivas (ESIQIE) taking into account the activities that are carried out within each of th áreas, being a total of 37 practieces, distributed in 5 areas in which the laboratory is divided (Heat transfer; Absorption, Fluid flow; Filtration; Distillation an Rectification). The method used incorporates the curren methods used for the analysis and evaluation of risks, both qualitative and quantitative through a systematic and direct view of the facilities and equipment and the interaction between the elements of the system and the environment for the identification of existing hazards, as well as the risks in the áreas of sutudy are evaluated, base don current regulations, incluiding the ISO 31000 standard. In this thesis, varios methodologies werw applied such as Checklist and Risk Matrix. These methodologies are base don the identification of risk throug a qualitative estimation, by áreas and practices, applying quantitative evaluation criteria by probability, exposure and consequences. According to the results obtained in the evaluation of the identified risks, the área with the highest risk is that of “Absorption” being the practice of “Packed absorption tower” the one chosen for the exemplification and application of the HazOP and What if? Once the potential risks associated with the activities of the analyzed áreas have been evaluated, preventive and corrective measures are established, within the framework of applicable regulations in Mexico. The plans and strategies resulting from this thesis are useful for diagnosing and ranking the most relevant risks and proposing measures to prevent and mitigate risks.
