Abstract:
RESUMEN: Esta investigación tiene como propósito identificar los elementos del turismo comunitario que favorecen la “defensa del territorio” y el “buen vivir” (dos mecanismos que utilizan las comunidades especialmente campesinas e indígenas para mantener sus condiciones de vida) con el objetivo de proponer una manera más eficaz de llevar a cabo esta actividad comunitaria.
La comunidad objeto de estudio fue una población colombiana que lleva por nombre Gachantivá, ubicada en el departamento de Boyacá al centro-este de Colombia, territorio que emprendió el turismo comunitario como estrategia de defensa en la disputa que sostiene la comunidad en contra de las economías extractivas y que han afectado las fuentes hídricas y las condiciones de vida de la población.
En la primera parte de la investigación se revisaron experiencias en América Latina en las que se determinó que si bien los conceptos de defensa del territorio y buen vivir se manejan en comunidades de Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Paraguay, Panamá, Guatemala, México y Colombia como instrumento para resguardar sus intereses comunitarios, no existe la identificación de los elementos que han permitido cumplir con tales intereses; por lo que para identificarlos se diseñó una herramienta de evaluación, esta herramienta contrapone trece elementos que de acuerdo con la literatura y con los estudios de casos deberían caracterizar al turismo comunitario, con siete elementos esenciales para la defensa del territorio y el buen vivir.
La segunda parte de la investigación se trabajó bajo la metodología etnográfica acción participación que pretende explicar un fenómeno social en su contexto natural mediante la recolección de información a través de la observación participativa, entrevistas y encuestas, las cuales se aplicaron a los emprendimientos de tipo turístico comunitario, a la comunidad y a agentes externos (Organizaciones académicas y no gubernamentales); estableciendo en qué medida el ejercicio de esta actividad contribuye a la defensa del territorio y al buen vivir.
Por último, se hizo una interpretación y reflexión sobre los resultados obtenidos, lo cual, permitió hacer una propuesta para replantear algunas prácticas en la comunidad.
ABSTRACT: This research aims to identify the elements of community tourism that favor the "defense of the territory" and "the good life" (two mechanisms used by especially farmer and indigenous communities to maintain their living conditions), it with the purpose to come up an effective way of carrying out the community tourism activity.
To this goal, is chosen a Colombian community named Gachantivá, located in the center-east of Colombia, in Boyacá state; it is a territory that undertook community tourism as a strategy in the dispute that they have against extractive economies and that have affected the water sources and the living conditions of the community.
To this goal, in the first part of the research some community tourism’s experiences around the defense of the territory and the good live were analyzed in Latin America. The determined were although the concepts of defense of the territory and the good life are managed from Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Paraguay, Panama, Guatemala, Mexico and Colombia’s communities as an instrument to safeguard their community interests, there is no identification that elements which have allowed these interests to be met (favor the "defense of the territory" and "the good life”); therefore, to identify them, was designed an evaluation's instrument; this one contrasts thirteen elements that according to literature and case studies should characterize to community tourism, with six essential elements for the defense of the territory and the good life.
The second part of the research was carried out under the ethnographic methodology that aims to explain a social phenomenon in its natural context through the collection of information through participatory observation, interviews and surveys, which were applied to community tourism ventures and to the community, to know how much this activity contributes to the defense of the territory and good life.
Finally, was made an interpretation and reflection on the results obtained; which, allowed to make a proposal to rethink some practices in the community.
