Abstract:
´on al respecto.
mismo.
ABSTRACT: In this thesis a study about the response of a viscoelastic material, specifically the photopolymer
resin Resione®, model F69®, to creep was carried out, with the peculiarity of introducing a
fractal pattern to the experimental specimens used, this was done due to the fact that polymers
are one of the most used materials for manufacturing and it is important to be able to predict
its response to some phenomena like creep itself, and as fractals have been turning into an
altenative way to analyze stress and strain, but this theory still in development so there are
not enough studies and information about them. During the development of this thesis several
experimental tests where carried out in order to determine the mechanical properties of the
material such as elastic modulus and tensile strength of the material, as well as its response to
tensile creep phenomena. For this purpouse three types of experimental specimens where used,
one based on the standard ASTM D638 for tensile properties, another one including the fractal
pattern being the Sierpinski’s Carpet for purpouse of this thesis, and the last one being the raw
material itself. For measuring the strains generated by the creep phenomena an experimental
technic called ”Digital Image Correlation (DIC)”was used, and then the response generated by
the material where analized using the creep and creep compliance graphs obtained from the
experimental tests.
