Abstract:

ABSTRACT: In the elaboration of solar cells it’s important to make an electrical characterization of
the materials that one wishes to work with to develop them; this is why the Hall effect
has an important role in their making. One of the problems found at the Instituto
Politécnico Nacional (IPN), is that in the year 2021 there is limited commercial
equipment that can measure the Hall effect, hence the making of these systems. In the
Superior School of Physics and Mathematics there is the following equipment: two
sources of power used for different functions, electrometer, multimeter, commutation
system, Hall effect card and an electromagnet, all of which work together as a Hall effect
system. In the following work a program of control in LabVIEW language was developed,
which allows the operation of this equipment forming the System of Electrical
Characterization of the Hall effect controlled with a GPIB interface, enabling to make
measurements with the Hall effect and Van Der Pauw techniques. With the integration of
this equipment and the implementation of the LabVIEW programed system, the
characterization of semiconducting materials was done to obtain different properties
like; density and mobility, resistivity of the material and the type of conductor (n o p). To
evaluate the system a thin film of tin oxide is characterized doped with Fluor (SnO2F,
which is used widely in the development of solar cells. This control program allows
posterior modifications for the integration of new equipment, modifications of the
existing techniques and new characterization techniques. Keywords: Characterization of
Materials, Hall effect, Programming language.
