ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: In our country there is few or not regulation on emergency care for the real and heartfelt, turning the attention of those in a real and serious problem. Nowadays our emergency services are collapsed with a long waiting time.
OBJECTIVE: Identify whether the emergency felt care is a factor in the delay and lack of quality of care of real emergencies.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: 382 patients over l6 year-old who attended to the Adult Emergency Department HGZ 1A Venados from 1 to 31 January 2010. The data were obtained from the initial assessment notes of the clinical records and we applied descriptive statistical analysis by Student t test with SPSS 10.0 and Excel, considering a P value <0.05 significant.
RESULTS: Most of emergency cases were felt in a rate of 82.2%, and only 17.8% was considered as real, where 58.95% was women and 41.1% was men, with a higher average waiting time for emergencies heartfelt of 27.7 minutes with a significant p = 0.0059.
CONCLUSIONS: When the emergency department is saturating with felt emergencies there is an increase in the waiting time of the real emergencies. There is not a rational use of emergency resources of the IMSS’s Emergencies Adult Service of the second-level General Hospital 1A Venados.
