ABSTRACT: Continuous technical advances in Hardware are leading to the proliferation of small, low cost microprocessors that includes sensors and wireless communication capabilities. They are being embedded on an invisible fashion in walls, equipments, appliances and other objects of daily use. Home, Industry, Education, Health and Business are targeted with this technology for information processing which is called ubiquitous computing.
Health sector is incorporating ubiquitous computing successfully for patient attention. Nevertheless there are many applications that must be developed before an integral health service could be offered. Cooperation among those applications is an important goal that is facilitated whit ubiquitous computing, because of the sensors and communications capabilities.
This work approaches ubiquitous computing and the healthcare services. Particularly, we are focusing to the Clinical History of the patient to provide pervasive availability. The system developed enables concurrent access to the patient records. We are considering that our system should be part of an integral healthcare system that includes sensors, actuators and intelligent information processing. Patient records are an important because medical decisions are supported by them.
When Clinical History belonging to several people is considered as a unit could be useful to prevent and foresee population diseases and preventive actions should be done.
