ABSTRACT: This thesis orients its study in the generation of electric and electromagnetic elds applied to control of fog dispersion. The objective of this work was evaluated the water steam dispersion through di erent electrostatic experiments by using of the charged particle technique, to induce charge into the water droplets and to disperse it by means of electrostatic interaction presents between the charged particles and the water droplets, and to purpose a new and novel electrostatic fog dispersion system dispersion
The rst chapter of this thesis presents the state of art work during the last years about the di erent techniques of fog dispersion. We focused this study in the use of the charged particle technique to understand the diferent electrical phenomena that occurs in the clouds and the environment to precipitate the rain and to disperse the fog.
The second chapter provides a brief introduction of the fog, the diferent types of fog and its main characteristics, as well as its life cycle and chemical composition. The main purpose of this work is understanding the impact main of the fog in the developing of the di erent economic activities, and the importance of the control of its visibility.
The third chapter deals about the related electrostatic phenomena to the processes of
induction of charge into particles applying corona discharges. Concepts as image charges, charged particle technique, electrostatic precipitation and corona discharges are de ned and oriented toward the electrostatic fog dispersion.
The fourth chapter introduces concepts about self-inductance and mutual-inductance related to the electromagnetic phenomena under which the transformers operates. In this chapter, a special type of resonant transformers was described, from its operation principle to its design, which will be used to propose a new fog dispersion system.
The fth chapter shows the development of the experimental fog chamber designed to generate fog conditions. This chapter also describes the realized electrostatic experiments
to evaluate the fog dispersion and its impact in the environment after to generate corona discharges applying electric and electromagnetic elds. Finally, the obtained results and conclusions of this thesis work are shown. |
