Leucotrichae (O. leucotricha); Serie Macdougalianae (O. durangensis); Serie
Phaeacanthae (O. phaeacantha); Serie Robustae (O. robusta) y Serie
Streptacanthae (O. hyptiacantha, O. aff. lasiacantha, O. megacantha y O.
streptacantha).
ABSTRACT
Wild and naturalized species of the genus Opuntia in Santiago Bayacora, Durango,
México, were studied through two parallel research lines: clarification of their
taxonomic identity, using a morphometric analysis; and documentation of vernacular
knowledge that people of the community have about prickly pears (ethnobotanical
study). Identification was based on keys, specialized literature, and herbaria
specimens. There are at least nine species in the area, included in six series: O.
durangensis, O. ficus-indica, O. hyptiacantha, O. aff. lasiacantha, O. leucotricha, O.
megacantha, O. phaeacantha, O. robusta and O. streptacantha.
