ABSTRACT: This work presents the results of the analysis of the behavior of spindle
bearings, used in high-speed machine tools. It was apply a methodology for
modal analysis by the finite element method. The results reflect a comparison of
behavior of a single geometric model, but three different materials: cast iron, low
carbon steel and aluminum. The introduction will show the main macroeconomic
issues around the need to purchase machine tools in Mexico, and highlights the
growing importance of machined at high speed and design criteria for vibration
modes for designing machinery used in this field. From this arises and justifies
the problem to be solved, as well as the general and specific objectives of this
work. The first chapter describes the state of the art in the design of machine
tools, the high speed machining and the current procedures for modal analysis.
The second chapter includes both theoretical aspects of the calculation by the
analytical method and by the finite element method. The third chapter presents
the results of the modeling of the components that were analyzed, as well as its
restrictions. In the fourth chapter shows the results obtained using commercial
software and also present a comparative analysis between the different models.
Finally include the conclusions and recommendations of this work.
