Abstract:
% respectivamente.
ABSTRACT: In Mexico, the amount of persistent pollutants to conventional treatment methods is increasing, this has forced the development of new treatment techniques to combat the growing problem of water pollution (Salgado Tránsito, 2011). One of the most
innovative alternatives for the treatment of water pollution are the Advanced Oxidation
Processes (POA) which consist of the production of species with high oxidizing power
which are capable of degrading organic matter. During this project, the development,
design, manufacture and commissioning of a CCP will be presented for the use of solar
radiation in the photodegradation of emerging pollutants by heterogeneous
photocatalysis mediated with TiO2 (Degussa P25).
The CCP reactor was built on a pilot scale, whose irradiated area is 0.69 m2 and whose
illuminated volume of the reactor is equivalent to 3.42L; likewise, it is made up of six 22
gauge stainless steel solar collectors with a mirror finish and six 93 cm long quartz
absorber tubes; finally the dimensions of the reactor without counting the structure that
supports it are 120 x 80 x 8.5cm.
In order to evaluate the performance of the CCP reactor, the solar heterogeneous
photocatalytic degradation process (FHS) mediated with TiO2 P25 was carried out, for
which methyl orange (NM) was used as a model pollutant at a concentration of 20 ppm
and to measure the degradation of this was used a spectrophotometer at 465 nm; The
reactor was operated from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at 22 ° from the horizontal with orientation to the South.
Finally, to complement the project, a degradation study was carried out by means of
which the behavior of the degradation rate of the NM was analyzed at flows of 6, 9 and
14 L / min as a function of the exposure time and accumulated solar radiation; Obtaining
as a result that regarding the degradation time values of 6, 9 and 14 L / min degrade
98, 94 and 88% of the model pollutant in 4, 5 and 5.3 h respectively. While from the
energy point of view, the behavior of the trend is the same in each of the flows used,
highlighting that for a flow of 6, 9 and 14 L / min a cumulative radiation of 672.15, 890.12
and 969.10 KJ / min is needed. m2 to degrade the NM by 98, 94 and 88% respectively.
