ABSTRACT:
Giant Extragalactic HII regions (GEHRs) are sites of active star formation that
provide an ideal laboratory to study the interaction between massive stars and the
interstellar medium. This thesis work presents the properties of two-to-peer giant HII
regions, such as Hubble V and Hubble X, located in the galaxy NGC 6822, which
belongs to the Local Group. The motivation for performing this work is due to the little
information available; we have concentrated on determining the properties of
extragalactic HII regions with spatial resolution, such as its density structure,
morphology, kinematics and turbulence.
In the first three chapters of this thesis we presents a review of the state of the art
and presents the basic physical concepts that describe the behavior of giant HII
regions. Also describes the study region of this work, Hubble V and Hubble X. The
fourth chapter describes the observation process, reduction and calibration of the
spectra. It also presents the methodology developed for the construction of twodimensional maps from the measured features in the spectra (flux, radial velocity
dispersion). In chapters five through eight we find the results and discussions in this
research and addresses the morphology, density, radial velocity and velocity
dispersion (turbulence) of Hubble V and Hubble V first separately and then on a
integrated form. Finally, in chapter nine we presents the research findings and future
work..
