RESUMEN: En México el cultivo de tomate es un importante generador de divisas y de empleos. sin embargo, los rendimientos de los cultivos se ven mermados por diversas enfermedades entre las cuales las de origen viral causan pérdidas importantes. En años recientes, en la región agrícola del noreste de México se identificó una enfermedad que afectaba al cultivo de tomate y para la cual no se pudo detectar el agente causal por las técnicas convencionales para los patógenos que causan marchitez manchada en tomate, que fue la sintomatología observada en el campo.
ABSTRACT: In Mexico, tomato cultivation is an important generator of foreign exchange and employment. however, crop yields are reduced by various diseases, among which those of viral origin cause significant losses. In recent years, in the agricultural region of northeastern Mexico, a disease was identified that affected the tomato crop and for which the causative agent could not be detected by conventional techniques for the pathogens that cause spotted wilt in tomato, which was the symptomatology observed in the field.
