ABSTRACT: In some bacterial sorts, like Pseudomonas, it has been observed that the formation of biofilm (microbial community that grows contracted in an exopolisacharide matrix (EPS) adhered to an alive or inert surface) is regulated by a mechanism known as quorum sensing (QS) or dependent self-induction of the accumulation in the environment of a molecule signal (HLS), which allows the bacteria to communicate with others to register the existing population density and successfully persist in the atmosphere. It has been seen that the QS participates in some other phenomena like mobility, the production of spores and as a virulence determinant of pathogenic strains. For such reason it is necessary to establish if the QS is related to the formation of biofilm and mobility in Aeromonas spp. to make a contribution to the knowledge about this regulation mechanism. 7 strains of clinical origin were studied, originated from a diarrhea bud in the state of Hidalgo, able to form biofilm and to move in semisolid surfaces by means of lateral flagella; finding that, the strains before mentioned produce intrinsically small molecules HLS type; and that when adding different concentrations of HLS (previously established) an increase in some of the phenotypic characteristics (formation of biofilm and motility was observed. Nevertheless, the answer to the stimulus was not always homogenous. Finally, the effect in the expression of the gene involved in the QS was studied in the clinical strain A. caviae Sch3 which showed a more constant phenotypic answer, unless later results confirm our observations, an increase in the expression of the gene AcuRR/AcuIR (homologous to lux) was observed under a particular condition; which coincides with previous complementary studies to the present work, fulfilled by this study group.
RESUMEN: En algunos géneros bacterianos como Pseudomonas se ha observado que la formación de biopelícula (comunidad microbiana que crece embebida en una matriz de exopolisacárido (EPS) adherida a una superficie viva o inerte) está regulada por un mecanismo conocido como quorum sensing (QS) o autoinducción dependiente de la acumulación en el medio ambiente de una molécula señal (HLS), que permite a la bacteria comunicarse con otras para censar la densidad poblacional existente y conseguir con éxito persistir en el ambiente. Se ha visto que el QS participa en algunos otros fenómenos como la movilidad, la producción de esporas y como un determinante de virulencia de cepas patógenas. Por tal motivo es necesario establecer si el QS está relacionado con la formación de biofilm y la movilidad en Aeromonas spp. y con esto contribuir al conocimiento acerca de este mecanismo de regulación. Se estudiaron 7 cepas de origen clínico, provenientes de un brote de diarrea en el estado de Hidalgo, capaces de formar biopelícula y moverse en superficies semisólidas por medio de flagelos laterales; encontrando que, las cepas antes mencionadas producen moléculas pequeñas tipo HLS intrínsecamente; y que al adicionar diferentes concentraciones de HLS (previamente establecidas) se observó un incremento en algunas de las características fenotípicas (formación de biopelícula y movilidad. Sin embargo, la respuesta al estímulo no siempre se mostró homogénea. Finalmente se investigó el efecto en la expresión del gen involucrado en el QS en la cepa clínica A. caviae Sch3 la cual mostró una respuesta fenotípica más constante, a reserva de que resultados posteriores confirmen el resultado se observó un incremento en la expresión del gen AcuRR/AcuIR (homólogo a lux) bajo una condición particular; lo que coincide con estudios previos complementarios al presente trabajo, realizados por este grupo de trabajo.
