El clima y sus factores determinan en parte el deterioro de la envolvente del espacio
habitable, el viento y la lluvia son algunos de esos factores; el efecto producido por la combinación
de la velocidad del viento con la intensidad de lluvia, da lugar al fenómeno conocido como “Lluvia
conducida por viento” (van Mook; 1997: 01). Es la fuente más importante de humedad que afecta el
desempeño higrotérmico y durabilidad de las fachadas afectando a los materiales expuestos.
El presente trabajo determina la relación existente entre los vectores de velocidad y
dirección del viento y la velocidad de lluvia, a partir de un modelo numérico simple, para así
conocer el ángulo en el plano vertical y la dirección en el plano horizontal incidentes de la lluvia
conducida por viento, para determinar cuál es la orientación óptima de las edificaciones en función
de la misma.
Se diseñaron instrumentos específicos para medir la lluvia conducida por viento en un caso
de estudio localizado en la Ciudad de México en un periodo comprendido del 11 de julio al 8 de
septiembre del 2008, donde se registró la precipitación pluvial de 18 días intercalados, durante los
cuáles se registraron 810 mediciones de velocidad de viento y 810 mediciones de dirección de
viento; así mismo se registraron 34 mediciones del ángulo máximo de la lluvia conducida por
viento y su dirección, y registrándose 18 cargas tanto de la intensidad vertical como de la intensidad
horizontal de la lluvia conducida por viento.
The climate and the factors determine in part the deterioration of the envelope of the
habitable space, the wind and the rain are some of those factors; the effect produced of the
combination of the speed of the wind with the rainfall intensity, leads to the phenomenon known as
“Wind driving rain” (van Mook; 1997: 01). It is the most important source of moisture that affects
the higrothermal performance and the durability of the facades affecting materials exposed.
This work determine the existing relation between the vectors of the speed and wind
direction and the speed of rain, from a numerical simple model, this way to know the angle in the
vertical plane and direction in the horizontal plane incidents of the wind driving rain, to determine
which is the ideal orientation for buildings depending on the same one.
Specific instruments was designed to measure the wind driven rain on a case study located
in Mexico City in a period included of the 11 of July to the 8 of September of the 2008, where the
pluvial precipitation of 18 days put in was registered, during which 810 measurements of speed of
wind and 810 measurements of wind direction were registered; also 34 measurements of the
maximum angle of the rain lead by wind and its direction were registered, and recorded 18 loads
both the vertical intensity and horizontal intensity of the wind driving rain.
