Abstract:
ABSTRACT: This work describes the design and implementation of an Autonomous Aerial Cattle Monitoring System, which followed the VDI 2206 methodology for the design of mechatronic systems. The system consists of a ground station and a quadcopter. The ground station allows the user to indicate the area in which the cattle will be located, and also the user can visualize drone telemetry data as well as the location of the cattle. The drone communicates with the ground station and flies over the desired terrain seeking cows and avoiding obstacles using a variant of the 3DVFH algorithm. The heads of cattle are equipped with a tag, which sends its position information to the drone using BLE technology once it flies near by. This system will be useful for future applications in cattle breeding, given that it will warn the rancher of possible irregularities in the cattle.
