Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Based on the statistics on road accidents in Mexico and the world, it can be considered
that the rate of road accidents is high. In this work, a system was developed which purpose
is to provide the driver and the occupants of a vehicle with a support assistant for after an
accident occurred. This assistant has the ability to sense the impacts in the event of an
accident, but is also able to assess the magnitude of the impact in three proposed variables:
light, moderate and severe. In the case of sensing an accident with a light or moderate
magnitude, the system sends a preventive text message informing of the event and notifies
the driver of the accident type that was suffered, then asks whether or not the text message
with the request for support is sent; but if it detects a severe impact, the system would
immediately send a text message to notify any external support that an accident was
suffered. The text message contains the magnitude (light, moderate or severe) of the
incident suffered, the location in real time and the time the incident was sensed. For this,
the system has a GPS that makes a continuous reading of the location so that at the moment
of the impact the location is available in real time to send it in the text message. In addition,
the system has a device with GPRS technology that allows us long-range wireless
communication that is supported by a telephone network.
For the system development it was necessary to use a design methodology with a
recursive concurrent approach, this due to the need to integrate the different subsystems
that this developed system includes, so that, the result has more integration synergy. On
the other hand, the tests were carried out on a scale vehicle where different types of impacts
and accidents were simulated, which allowed the measurement of variables such as
distance, time, speed, acceleration, force and impact energy to validate the expected results
in the design.
