Contribuación al conocimiento de Opuntia Cactaceae en Santiago Bayacora,Durango,México

Abstract

Se estudiaron las especies silvestres y naturalizadas del género Opuntia en la Comunidad Santiago Bayacora, Durango, México, a través de dos líneas de investigación paralelas: el esclarecimiento de su identidad taxonómica, con apoyo en un análisis morfométrico, y el rescate y documentación de los conocimientos vernáculos que los campesinos de dicha comunidad tienen acerca del nopal (estudio etnobotánico). La identificación taxonómica hecha con claves dicotómicas y con el apoyo de literatura especializada y consulta de colecciones indican la presencia de nueve especies, incluidas en seis series: Serie Ficus-indicae (O. ficus-indica.); Serie Leucotrichae (O. leucotricha); Serie Macdougalianae (O. durangensis); Serie Phaeacanthae (O. phaeacantha); Serie Robustae (O. robusta) y Serie Streptacanthae (O. hyptiacantha, O. aff. lasiacantha, O. megacantha y O. streptacantha).

ABSTRACT Wild and naturalized species of the genus Opuntia in Santiago Bayacora, Durango, México, were studied through two parallel research lines: clarification of their taxonomic identity, using a morphometric analysis; and documentation of vernacular knowledge that people of the community have about prickly pears (ethnobotanical study). Identification was based on keys, specialized literature, and herbaria specimens. There are at least nine species in the area, included in six series: O. durangensis, O. ficus-indica, O. hyptiacantha, O. aff. lasiacantha, O. leucotricha, O. megacantha, O. phaeacantha, O. robusta and O. streptacantha.
