ABSTRACT:
In the present work two devices that use solar energy to desalinate water were designed, built and evaluated. Both devices were put under 14 tests with groundwater and one from Lake of the Negritos, with the purpose of determining the chemical quality of groundwater in the area The Ciénega, Chapala, Michoacán and to determine the efficiency of water treatment processes of reverse osmosis and solar distillation. Using the two devices physics-chemical and chemical analysis of the selected waters were performed before and after the treatment, the parameters evaluated were: pH, E.C, TDS, Hardness, cations (Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+), anions (CO32-, HCO3-, Cl-, SO42-), heavy metals (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn), P, B and N-NH4. The calculations were made for the sizing of the pumping equipment by using two photovoltaic panels 36v each. Both devices are characterized by their behavior, in the solar distiller and in reverse osmosis and their respective dimensioning. To observe the feasibility of future use of these devices, a financial analysis was performed by analyzing the final construction costs, maintenance and the cost for each liter of the treated water. Finally a life-cycle analysis was conducted to the environmental impact these devices presented in their construction. The results obtained show that the solar distiller is more efficient in terms of desalination but the reverse osmosis presents a greater production per day. |
